About University

                 Jaypee University Of Information Technology , Waknaghat -  has traveled quite a distance, since its inception two years ago by the joint effort of the Jaiprakash Sewa Sansthan & the Government of  Himachal Pradesh ( under Act 14 0f 2002 of Legislative Assembly of H.P ) . The University is spread over 25 acres of lush green picturesque slopes of Waknaghat, in District Solan of Himachal Pradesh, creating a tranquil environment that can heighten the spirit and energy level of all learners and inspire them to optimize their learning efforts . 

    JUIT is now carving a niche for itself in the corporate world . The University plans to interact heavily with the Industry. For this purpose JUIT Extension Service has been set, which will be conducting short-term courses for corporate and IT related industries. Eminent industries are being invited to setup Centres of Excellence on the University campus.This will help the university in supplementing its  educational infrastructure and teaching and in turn providing quality human resource to the industry. In addition, authorized academies/certified centers of eminent industries are being planned on the campus for augmentation of the professional capabilities of JUIT students. The University has entered into the collaboration with the University Of California ,Berkeley USA which includes curriculum design , faculty profiles & establishment of Quality Practices

    A phased construction plan over 5 years envisages a total built up area of over 500,000 sq.ft. ; comprising the Academic Block (with lecture theatres, classrooms, tutorial rooms, laboratories, administrative & faculty offices, and the library), Hostel for boys and girls (18 in number for around 1200 students), faculty residences, Guest House, Annapoorna (mess) , open air theater, sports facilities, and other associated services.

    At present,  eight hostels house around 500 students. Academic Block III of over 40,000 square feet and six hostels (two for boys & a four-block hostel for girls ) including civic amenities & Open Air Theatre are under construction during the third phase, to be operational by June 2004. All academic and hostel buildings are centrally heated & well connected with Internet & University's Intranet with a Fiber-Optic Network .A modern GYMNASIUM has recently been set up to keep students physically fit. Accommodation for faculty is provided on the campus .All  Classrooms have Multimedia Projection System for facilitating Computer & Web based learning. The University has three computer labs (IBM Programming Lab, Sun Solaris Lab & IBM Multimedia Lab respectively) which are equipped with the latest softwares . Other lab includes Biotechnology,Biochemistry , ,Engineering Drawing ,Civil Infrastructure ,Electrical science & Communication Lab . 

   The University has a highly developed educational infrastructure and good faculty with an international outlook. It aims to have a very active interaction with the industry in the fields of Electronics, Communications, Computers and Bio-Informatics and Bio Technology. It has a mission to serve the society by imparting training in the fields of emerging technologies and produce professionals who can be leaders in innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity and management
